Punjab Election Results Live: Congress Leading in 7 Seats, AAP Ahead in 3; Harsimrat Kaur Badal Takes Lead in Bathinda
The counting for the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections has commenced. The state is witnessing a fierce contest among the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
In Bathinda, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal is now leading against AAP’s Gurmeet Singh Khuddian by 2,251 votes after an initial lag.
Initial trends indicate that the Congress is leading in seven seats in Punjab, while AAP is ahead in three. Congress’s Sukhjinder Randhawa is leading in the Gurdaspur seat by 1,978 votes against BJP’s Dinesh Singh Babbu. In Amritsar, Congress’s Gurjeet Singh Aujla is ahead of AAP’s Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal by 2,684 votes. Vijay Inder Singla holds a narrow lead of 381 votes in Anandpur Sahib against AAP’s Malvinder Singh Kang. Congress’ Charanjit Singh Channi is leading in Jalandhar against BJP’s Sushil Rinku, while Amrinder Singh Raja Warring is ahead in Ludhiana against BJP’s Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa of Congress is leading against AAP’s Amansher Singh Kalsi in Gurdaspur by 2,368 votes, according to initial trends from the Election Commission. The Congress is leading in six seats (Amritsar, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, and Patiala), while AAP is leading in four constituencies (Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Sangrur, and Bathinda). Independent candidate Amritpal Singh is ahead in Khadoor Sahib, and Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, the son of one of Indira Gandhi’s assassins, is leading in Faridkot.
