JMI organises seminar on the occasion of World Disability Day 2022


A one-day Seminar on “Transformative Solutions for Inclusive Development: The Role of Innovation in Fuelling an Accessible and Equitable World” was organized by M.Ed Special Education (LD/VI), Department of Education, Training and Non-formal Education, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) on 5th December 2022. The seminar was organised on the occasion of World Disability Day 2022 to increase awareness and sensitization about Person with Disability(PWD).
World Disability Day is celebrated globally to promote the rights and wellbeing of PWDs in all spheres of society, keeping this in view, this program was organized.
In its inaugural session, Course Coordinator Dr. Saurabh Ray along with the Head of the Department and teachers of the department welcomed the guest for the programme. Professor Jessy Abraham, Head of the Department congratulated every one for organizing the seminar.
In the first session of the seminar Professor Imran Andlib (Department of Urdu), Dr. Mukesh Barnwal (Department of History), Dr. Adam (Department of Urdu), our chief guest Dr. Asad Malik (Department of Law) talked about World Disability Day. They all presented their views about issues faced by PWDs and particularly Dr. Asad Malik sensitized the audience about various laws for PWDs.
Chief Guests of the second session were Dr. Saleem from University Polytechnic and Dr. Taufeeq, Department of Management, JMI. Being themselves specially abled persons they motivated the audience about challenges faced by PWDs and how to overcome those challenges.
Students of M.Ed special education 3rd semester gave a presentation with an aim to create general awareness about PWDs. After presentations, a report of the seminar was presented by one of the students.
In the valedictory session, Course Coordinator Dr. Saurabh Ray thanked everyone and congratulated them for achieving the objectives of the seminar.
