JMI organises Job-Readiness Workshop in association with IBM SKILLSBUILD-CSRBOX
The University Placement Cell (UPC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised the first Job- readiness workshop in partnership with IBM-CSRBOX SkillsBuild. IBM SkillsBuild is a free access digital learning platform with various learning activities that focuses on industry-relevant skill development in students and jobseekers. The workshop commenced with an Orientation Programme which was held on 9th May 2022 followed by a Job Readiness Workshop on 13th May in the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium of the university.
The Orientation Programme was conducted by Shubhangi Madan and Rohit Rajput, both Sr.Project Associates from IBM. They briefed the audience about the various courses that the registered students would be able to undergo using IBM platform, free of cost. They also explained the registration process and demonstrated it live.
The Orientation Programme was followed by the First Training Session on Job Readiness and Resume writing skills. The trainers highlighted useful key points for Resume building and Interview preparation for the advantage of the students. They discussed that degree is the minimum eligibility criteria for a job and not a criteria to be selected. They also taught ways to impress an employer in 30 seconds through their Resume.
Accordingly, systematic steps to building a resume was discussed. The session was attended by around 200 students belonging to various courses and was very interactive.The Hony. Director, UPC Dr. Rahela Farooqi stated that this workshop is first in the series and many more sessions and workshops would be organised soon in collaboration with IBM Skillsbuild.
